About IFIP-ICEC

The 23rd International Federation for Information Processing – International Conference on Entertainment Computing (IFIP-ICEC 2024) will be held in Manaus, Brazil from 30th September to 3rd October. The conference is organized by the IFIP TC14 – Entertainment Computing Technical Committee, and will be hosted by the University of Amazon State – EST.

IFIP-ICEC is the longest lasting and prime scientific conference series in the area of Entertainment Computing. It brings together practitioners, researchers, artists, designers, and industry on the design, creation, development, use, application and evaluation of digital entertainment content and experience systems. This event covers a diverse array of related research issues, including interactive art, game-based learning, XR technologies and ethical considerations associated with entertainment.

This year, we plan to host a workshop online with co-locations in Manaus (Brazil) and in Ningbo (China), on the topic “Aesthetics and Empowerment: Exploring AI-Driven Creativity”. Workshop participants are invited to submit a full research paper for a peer-review process. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings as a book in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series, indexed by EI and Scopus.

Topic

Aesthetics and Empowerment: Exploring AI-Driven Creativity

Introduction

AI-driven tools are progressively employed to enhance human creativity, thereby ushering in novel opportunities within the realms of arts and design. Researchers are actively seeking new ways to expand AI-driven creativity tools and exploring methods that combine AI with existing tools to empower creative processes, including empowerment in entertainment, health, education, and accessibility. The workshop invites researchers, practitioners, designers, artists, and industry professionals with an interest in aesthetics and empowerment to participate.

By collectively exploring this field, we can investigate how AI transcends human limitations to inspire creativity and uncover innovative approaches for leveraging AI to enhance creative processes while addressing potential risks. Research papers on (but are not limited to) the following topics are of mutual interest to this workshop:

Human-AI Collaboration: Exploring strategies or tools for fostering collaboration between humans and AI in creative processes, reflecting mutual learning and co-creation;

Interactive and Generative Art: Investigating the potential of AI-driven tools in enabling interactive and generative art experiences;

Ethical Considerations: Discussing the potential ethical risks of AI-driven creativity, investigating issues regarding attribution, intellectual property disputes, and bias in decision-making;

Provide potential implementations of AI-driven creativity to empower relevant fields including but not limited to entertainment, health, education, and accessibility.
